Meagan Milatz, pianist, is winner of the prestigious 2025-2028 Mécénat Musica Prix Goyer and the 2024 Prix Opus “Discovery of the Year”. She is “a remarkable pianist with a seemingly limitless palette of expression” (Le Devoir). Meagan regularly shares the stage with top international musicians including Andrew Wan, concertmaster of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Stefan Dohr, Principal Horn of the Berlin Philharmonic, cellist Matt Haimovitz, and mandolinist Avi Avital.

Awarded the 2024 Prix Choquette-Symcox by Fondation Jeunesses Musicales Canada, Meagan’s recent engagements have included performances with Olivier Charlier, Michel Michalakakos, Cho-Liang Lin, Peter Hanson, Olivier Charlier, Pablo Hernán Benedí, Steven Dann, and tubist Øystein Baadsvik, among others. Internationally, Meagan has performed at the New Ross Piano Festival in Ireland in 2023 - the first Canadian musician to be invited - as well as at the Edeta Arts International Chamber Music Festival where she appeared in concert in Spain with violinists Wolfgang Redik in 2024 and Kai Gleusteen, concertmaster of the Orchestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona, in 2022. Meagan recently embarked on a 2025 recital tour of China with cellist Cameron Crozman, and a European tour in Italy, France, Malta, and Portugal in 2024.

Meagan has appeared as soloist with the Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Sherbrooke, and McGill Symphony Orchestras and will be featured with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in April 2027 in Mozart's Triple Piano Concerto alongside Charles Richard-Hamelin and Kevin Chen. Meagan was top prize winner in the Shean Piano Competition, CFMTA National Piano Competition, and Canadian Music Competition, and the recipient of a Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Award. Alongside violinist Amy Hillis, Meagan was winner of the first ever 50-concert Pan-Canadian Tour in the 2019/2020 season offered by Jeunesses Musicales Canada, Debut Atlantic, and Prairie Debut. Her performances are regularly broadcast on CBC/Radio-Canada.

Meagan has a deep passion for fortepianos and recently recorded a solo album, "Innig", in Belgium on an 1835 Conrad Graf fortepiano from the Chris Maene Museum Collection centred on Schumann’s "Kreisleriana", to be released by ATMA Classique in October 2026. Previously, she recorded an album for fortepiano and natural horn alongside Louis-Pierre Bergeron, "Bravura", released in December 2023 to great acclaim.

Meagan was recently appointed as Artistic Director of the Cecilian Chamber Series in her home province of Saskatchewan, where she began her studies before pursuing performance degrees from McGill University (B.Mus. and M.Mus.). She is grateful to her teachers and lifelong mentors Cherith Alexander, Ilya Poletaev, Philip Chiu, and Tom Beghin with whom she was greatly privileged to study the fortepiano. Enthusiastic about helping the next generation of young musicians, she has been a guest faculty member for the “Session sonates violon et piano” of Camp Musical du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean as well as for the 10,000 Hours piano studio in Ottawa.

Meagan is based in Montreal where she loves biking, reading outside whenever possible, and enjoying the occasional tasty pastry.

En 2019/2020, Meagan a fait une tournée de 50 concerts à travers le Canada avec la violiniste Amy Hillis ( meagan&amy ), après avoir remporté la toute première Tournée pancanadienne, présentée conjointement par Jeunesses Musicales Canada, Debut Atlantic et Prairie Debut. Ses concerts sont souvent diffusés sur les ondes de CBC/Radio-Canada.

Meagan est profondément passionnée par les pianofortes. Elle a récemment enregistré en Belgique un album solo, « Innig », sur un pianoforte Conrad Graf de 1835 provenant de la collection du musée Chris Maene. Centré autour de la Kreisleriana de Schumann, l’album paraîtra chez ATMA Classique en octobre 2026. Auparavant, elle a enregistré avec Louis-Pierre Bergeron Bravura un album pour pianoforte et cor naturel paru en décembre 2023 et accueilli avec grand succès.

Originaire de la Saskatchewan, Meagan y a commencé ses études musicales auprès de Cherith Alexander, avant d’obtenir une maîtrise à l’Université McGill, où elle a étudié le piano moderne avec Ilya Poletaev et le pianoforte avec Tom Beghin. Elle a également bénéficié des conseils et du mentorat de Philip Chiu en art collaboratif. Passionnée par un désir de partage avec la nouvelle génération de musiciens, elle a été invitée comme membre du corps enseignant pour la session « Sonates violon et piano » au Camp Musical du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, ainsi qu’à titre de professeure invitée au studio de piano 10,000 Hours à Ottawa.

Meagan réside à Montréal où elle adore se promener en vélo, visiter les diverses bibliothèques de la ville, et parfois savourer une délicieuse pâtisserie.
